Just something I found that may relate to your run on issue. Check the carb by hand and see how hot it is after a drive. Warm is fine but shouldn't be hot hot. I found that my air cleaner base dropping down around the carb was causing heat soak. If it is rather hot to the touch, look at the squirters to see if they look wet. I drove without the air cleaner and the carb temp was considerably cooler.
