    Chris,

Hope you and family are staying safe ! My name is John Hammond and i live in SoCal. I had read before that you had built a BBC 499ci motor. I have done the same except with 10:1 compression.

    3.76" Stroke
    4.6" Bore
    AFR 300CC Oval Heads
Edelbrock Vic Jr. Ported by Wilson
    Comp HYD Roller Cam 248/254 @ .050 - 112 LC 4 degrees advanced
    Lemons 2 1/8" Headers
Pro Systems 4150 Carb 1000 CFM

I put the car on a dyno and it was only making 600HP to the rear wheels at 6250 RPM. When I built this engine I was expecting a 6800-7000 RPM engine. What RPM range did you make power using the Morels lifters and those big 2.3" intake valves ?

no difference in power if both were to come from me. Sound will change as the solid roller will be crisper due to its design

    Hi Chris,
How much HP gain do you see going from a HR cam to a SR cam of similar specifications and how much HP could I gain by going to a SR from my current HR cam you cut for me ? It still needs to be reliable as far as valve train wear over an extended period of time while driven on the street.

    Chris,

I FINALLY got my motor done and running! It's been awhile since you provided me with the cam and valve train but thought you might want to know. I started a thread about it here under "555 Pump Gas Dyno Guess"
Take a look at the numbers and let me know what you think!

When they paid in full I gave them back the title and key.I also knew repo guys too so Them paying up wasnt a issue. Come on Chris dont you own Straub Financial Group? Steve

    Hi Chris,
I am ready to get your cam you have ground for the 215 cast heads. I have a few things to check once I get the heads back from being milled, such as push rod length. I will wait until I check and will order push rods also from you if needed. I might also be interested in springs to match cam. I had mentioned before i have a set of hyd roller lifters, do you suggest i change them also?
    talk soon, thank you

Good morning Chris, I am Edd Upp (uppster) at Team Chevelle. I am wanting to get my 69 Chevelle ready to sell by making it easier to drive. I can email the spec sheet of the engine if you like, but general specs are in the post titled "decaming my 540". I would be interested to have your opinion on a cam. Thanks Edd

Since the heads are ported I will need the numbers on the heads. I have had a 496 make 917HP before at 7500 rpm so it is possible but I will have to have the heads numbers.

    Dave,
I would not recommend a billet for what you are doing. Not needed. The SADI cores I use are recommended up to 260# seat and 650# Open. 95% of my hyd rollers are on these cores including Davey's. $545 to you door SADI or Everwear Billet.
