:yes:I took some time off to meet some friends and take my 55 truck to the Hangover Fest at Cordova Dragway. Then got back to work on the Chevelle, after washing and waxing my 55 truck. More cleaning of stuffing that mice had packed in to the rocker panels. It took virtually hours with a combination of brushes, on the end of a long wire, a wet dry vac, with a 1/2 hose duct taped to the nozzle, and shop air with another hose stuck on the end. I ended up with a real mess on the floor but I got everything out and now when I shine a light I see all the way down. Then I washed the entire body to try and get all the blasting grit out of all the nooks and crannys. Now I am hoping the doors get done this week so I can get them back on the body in preparation for getting new quarters on. OOPS that was a dangling participle.

The Body was bead blasted on the sides and roof and sand blasted underneath. Then it was sprayed in primer. The Frame was blasted and the inside areas were sprayed with Eastwood rust inhibitor. Then the rest was painted with Eastwood chassis satin black paint. Now the doors are being stripped and other misc chassis parts are being blasted in preparation for coating with the same chassis satin black.

The body has been completely stripped while on the rotisserie and waiting in line to get bead blasted and primed. All of which have been repaired and stiffened with extra 1/8 plates at the critical places.

These seats started life as 65 GTO seats. My Customer bought them off ebay. Despite the mostly intact original covers- the guts underneath were severly rusted & broken, especially in the seatback.
After new side support springs & front support springs in both bottom seats, and new edgewires, center springs & all new clamps throughout for both seat backs- they went back together with new PUI covers & ACI seat buns as 1964 Chevelle Bucket seats.

I was pretty happy with the results, especially since this was the first set of 64/65 seats I'd redone.

:noway:I have had my 66ss on the Accessible Systems Bottoms up Lift for about a three weeks. I have spent the time removing the miscellaneous hardware and scraping off windshield sealer and rubber from underneath the rear wheel wells. The latter required using a propane torch to heat up the rubber and softening it allowing it to be scraped off. It was a lot more fun drag racing and putting that rubber there than it was scraping it off. I am the kind of guy that when a vendor screws me I let everyone know. The same is true when I have bought a great product. If you are thinking about buying or borrowing a rotisserie try to get one of these, they are great!

I was determined not to twist the cage nuts out of their cage so I have been working the bolts with liquid wrench for three weeks. I finally had to drill a 1 1/2 hole in the trunk to properly spray and work the bolts back and forth. One came lose in the cage but I was able to squeeze the cage tight on the nut with vice grips and the last one came out tonight. Now I am celebrating with a captains and diet soda. Tomorrow I will arrange to put the body on 4x4's and get the chassis out from underneath then onto the rotisserie.

I have a very stout oval port 454 for power. I can start to see it in my head. Wheeee.

After this I am ordering a rotisserie to be delivered to a friends business and I will assemble in my garage and then seperate the frame and body. Then the hard job of disassembling the frame and suspension while the body goes to the blasters for bead blasting and body work. I am still fretting over my long term goal. A retro almost stock 138 ss or a more modern street machine. Kind of leaning towards something in between. I like the retro look but i would really like to upgrade steering, stoping and creature comforts. I definatly learned from my first rebuild, which was the 55 truck, to plan ahead for what you are going to do. If not the wiring etc is a nightmare. Decisions decisions.

SO I took lots of pictures and movies of the disaasembly. I will post pictures if anyone else is struggling with these contraptions. I know I had intended to remove the front clip first but I got side tracked with the interior. Now I will take off the front clip. The biggest issue is the storage room. I had a shed full of stuff that was of little use so all of that went to goodwill and the local landfill. Now there is room for the large heavy parts so I can attack the body and frame. I am starting to get excited about seeing this drivable. I don't want to say done because these projects are never done.

I will properly package and store the brace for future rebuild, but it still confuse me as to where it was. I haven't figured out how to imbed pictures on this blog so I will update the fotos on my profile. Thanx to all for following this rebuild.

I had a heckuva time coming up with the materials to make it, but I am very happy with the results so far.

I made a frame from aluminum square tubing that I held together by driving wood into the center of the tube, then running long screws thru the cross tube into the wood creating a strong angle joint. This will be welded in the next version.
White corrugated sign board is the backing material for the HD vinyl that is the cover. Tough to find any vinyl that is wide enough for the job as most are only 54 inches wide and I needed around 63 inches to cover and wrap around the sides for the finished look. I finally found Phoenix Fabric & Trim and spoke with a very knowledgeable guy that was also willing to hear what I needed.
There does exist a tonneau cover vinyl that comes in 78 inch width and has the quality & UV to withstand outside exposure. Just under $60 got enough to do this job delivered to my door.
