Just curious if there is a certain position that the handles should point, say, when the window is up. Should they point down or up??

Im 6'2. So I had mine off once and didnt think of putting it on at any certain position and my knee hit it when the window was down. I removed it with the window down and repositioned it upwards. So in my opinion, its best to position them where you wont hit them when the window is up or down. So to answer your question, pointing up would be the best. At least it is for me.

I checked before I took them off my -69. I'm pretty sure they had never been taken off before, and they were all pointing forward/down at about 45 degrees.

Horizontal, pointing straight forward.
Or, looking at the door panel straight on, with the window all the way up, they should be at 9 O'clock on the passenger side and 3 O'clock on the drivers side. (IMO)

I've deduced (deductive reasoning) this by my experiences with unmolested original GM cars.
In other words. I have seen 1000's of GM cars of the 60's and 70's vintages. Many window crank handles were set wrong. But, of the cars I have seen that I have determined to be unmolested and original, this is the position the handle was in.
I've seen many cars at shows with the window cranks in the wrong position.
All I can say is.........tacky........very tacky.

It's things like this that set professional restorers and amateurs apart.

Looking at photos of a few original 67s:

1. With the windows down, the driver's and passenger's side at 10:30/11:00 position.

2. One with the driver's window up at the 2:00 position.

3. One with passenger's window up at 9:30/10:00 position and driver's door up at 2:00.
