I started taking my pass side seat apart, in my 69 Chevelle. I'm stuck on the plastic back panel, how do you remove the Chrome push button. I see that there are screws holding the push button (that lets the seat fold forward) to the back, but I need to remove the chrome piece around it. Any suggestions on how to get the upper push button off, so I can remove the back panel?

If so equipped, you must first remove the seat back release button. Easy on a 67-68, a little trickier on a 69-72. For the trickier ones, insert two flat blade one-inch putty knives between the seat back and the chrome button trim, one on either side. Gently push inward to release the spring loaded clip and the entire button will pull straight out. Then remove three attaching screws at the bottom of the seat back, slide the seat back upwards about an inch and a half or so to clear the mounts and viola, the seat back is removed.
