My 68 has manual steering. It has a 454 with the short water pump with the alternator on the drivers side. I am trading it for a power steering set up off of a 69. I have a couple of questions?
1. Did all big block 68 chevelles come with the remote reservoir?
2. Will the 69 and later pump with the reservoir made on it fit my car?
3. Did chevrolet change the alternator location based on whether or not the car had a/c?

Car doesnt have to be concours correct but it needs to work. I need power steering and if I have to I can buy the remote stuff. Just need some help on what will work and what wont.

Thanks in advance for sharing.

I believe they did have remote reserviors. The alternator location was based one which water pump you had. Pre '69 had short water pumps and the alt on drivers side. 69 and later switched to long pumps and pass side alt.

Yep

Not with the short pump & left side alternator.
3. Did chevrolet change the alternator location based on whether or not the car had a/c?

Nope, A/C was on the right side in 68.

You will need the pump, reservoir, hoses, and brackets for a 68 or earlier big block with the short water pump. The steering gear and shaft from the 69 will work for you.
