I was at a car show today and this 66 chevelle had a 572 crate motor, and the aluminum heads were dull looking, is there anything a guy could do to make it look a little better cosmetically Thanks Rob

Well, with 600+ hp, no one should ever be able to keep up to look at the motor!!! LMAO!!! Actually, i knew alot of guys at car shows that used the Zoops seal to polish and then seal the aluminum. It looks nice and it lasts.

A cheap way would be to use the "aluminum colored" engine paint. It would pass except fot a real close inspection. I used it on a set of headers on a previously owned car and they touched up nicley. A little more expensive option is POR20. It coats well but needs a good baking to cure. Both are real close to aluminum color. Both would be easier than polishing. Polishing however would be IMO the best look :)

Thank you rianbachtold and jeff. Where can I get the zoops seal, that might do the trick.

Jeff if the engine is out of the car with the heads still on it, you wouldn't have a rough idea on a good way to polish it and with what. Thanks Rob.

www.eastwood.com has it all. They are a little expensive and a bit annoying with catalogs once you buy something :clonk: :D

Sorry, forgot about this thread! You can get the zoops seal at Jegs or Summit (i think summit has it? If not, definitely jegs)

Or just use any aluminum polish, like Mothers, and work your butt off hand polishing. The more often its is done the more shiny it will get to a certain point., and you can always use a small buffer to help out. If you let it go, it will return to the dull look.

I dont see any reason they couldnt be treated the same way any sort of aluminum component gets when its dull. Wheels, heads or otherwise. I would think using any quality brand polish would take care of heads too.

Yea, but the zoops stuf actually creates a seal and you just wash the aluminum off after it get greasy/dirty/oily and it looks like you've buffed it for hours! Also, i don't know heat would affect it but, i wonder if you could get that clear powder coat or whatever it is.
