My son needs a new hood for his 71 Chevelle. Can anyone comment on the quality of hoods sold at Ground up? Any other suggestions? Thanks,
Steve & Ben

If is just a plain, stock replacement you're looking for...there are plenty of guys around here that will just about give you one... free. ;)
I've got one myself...rust free, off my '70...that you're welcome to.
Shipping would be costly, though.
However, you're welcome to come pick it up. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks guys,
I think that this is the way he should go but I think he's set on getting a cowl induction hood. I'll let you know and may take you up on your offer. If he buys one aftermarket, I just don't want him getting stuck with a thin piece of junk . . .hence my original inquiry. Thanks again.

The underside of the repo hood does not look exactly like to GM hood. The metal in a repo hood is way thinner than GM. I knew a guy at NPD here in detroit and he told me there's a 8 lbs. difference between the GM cowl induction hood and the repo. I have heard that they fit ok.

I have a repo SS hood on my 67' and it fits "just OK". And now that they are coming out with the cowl induction style hood for the 67 (in repo) i'm going to change it again, I hope the new one fits better.

I would think an 8lb difference in hoods would be a great thing, the factory cowl induction hoods weigh a ton!

I've used a few Goodmark cowl hoods and i was impressed. They weigh a ton by the way!
