: How many of you are using your Chevelle, El Camino, etc. everyday for transportation
CHELKAMINO Aug 13th, 05, 3:54 AM ....are using your Chevelle, El Camino, etc. everyday for transportation even with the ridiculous gas prices??? Since I figured out what the problem was with my 650 Holley......I've been driving my Elky for the past 4 days to work. I am on night shift and pass the same gas station to and back. I saw the price go from $2.28 when I was going to work.......8 hours later it was $2.33!!
At this rate I may have to start driving my Cavalier to work again.
The Chevelle is another story......I haven't even taken that one out of the garage for the past 3 weeks (weekends only). At 8 miles to a gallon.......I'd be broke real quick!!

jocww Aug 13th, 05, 5:09 AM im thinking about carjacking my moms hybrid or getting a bike.
RedSS454 Aug 13th, 05, 6:47 AM I drive my 04 Ram Hemi. While not the Chevelle, the gas mileage is only marginally better then the Chevelle. And the fact that I use 89 octane is starting to hurt the wallet, but I would have it no other way.

1971 Chevelle Aug 13th, 05, 10:28 AM Where in PA are you located? I live in Meadville, PA and in two days gas has went from 2.35/gal to 2.52/gal, needless to say I drive my Prizm to work that gets 36 miles a gallon in the city, lol.
Johnny B. Aug 13th, 05, 10:56 AM I've got to tell the truth. I only drive my Chevelle 2 days a week anymore. It's
a darn shame but the gas is just too high.
It's not all bad though because I have my 4.6 Cobra motored 330 H.P Lincoln
LSC. Believe or not, I'm getting 31.5 mpg on the road !
Not bad for a F*** :)
Dean Aug 13th, 05, 11:36 AM Man I hate topic titles that aren't finished :(
Jim Mac Aug 13th, 05, 12:22 PM my daily driver is a 77 2wd blazer, probably about 10 MPG tops and drive 13 miles one way, seriously considering getting a small truck, man I miss my chevy luv. Jim

How in the world are you getting that kind of mileage out of a 4.6L?
My 2V 4.6L would only get 24 at its best.
My 4V 4.6L blown gets 23 on the highway at best.
I guess I drive too fast and should dump my mustangs for a lincoln ;)

MalibuJerry350 Aug 13th, 05, 12:32 PM Everyday....52 miles each way back and forth to work on the NJ Turnpike. About 20 to 22 miles per gallon. Gotta love that 2.56 rear! 665,000 miles on the rear....no friction left! :D
70ElkySS Aug 13th, 05, 1:43 PM I drive my '70 Elky everywhere, every day. My work commute is only 3 miles round-trip, though.
CheZeppelinCorps Aug 13th, 05, 3:27 PM I usually drive the granny car (a 97 tan oldmsmoblie, white walls, handicapped plate, the whole works) when its too hot, or when the Chevelle is busted or when I just dont have any money.
thunderstruck507 Aug 13th, 05, 4:48 PM i drive mine, but i'm getting at or over 20mpg depending on how i drive it so its not too bad

Hi Joe,
I run a cold air K&N with Magnaflows and a Chip. Around town using a light
foot, I see about 19-20 mpg. On the road, running 65 -70mph (1400 rpm )
in overdrive I see about 27-33 mpg depending on where my foot is. The
car is a 3.08 gear and I'm running 27 in. tall-16's. The computer seems to
be dead on.
Now, if mine were blown like yours, I'm sure my foot would NEVER let
me get decent mileage. ;)
79943 Aug 13th, 05, 8:33 PM i usually drive the camino one or two days a week to work. but i only have a 7 mile each way commute. i would drive it more but for the stupid rain we get here almost every afternoon. i plan to drive it more this winter. hopefully it will be drier and since we really dont have a snow issue down here, not to mention driving in the 60's (temp)instead of the 90's without air. yep, winter driving is a better option for me. by the way 1971 chevelle i used to live about 12 miles or so from meadville (aka tool city!). i loved it up there along with pymatuning lake, but i have to say i dont miss the snow :). do me a favor tho go to that hot dog stand, dang i forget the name of it, that has the most awesome sauce in the world and have one for me! EDIT: i just remember it was Eddie's! gosh those things were great, i hope it's still in business.
I drive my Velle almost everyday. My work commute is roughly 20-25 miles each way. I'm not exactly sure how many miles it is, cause each car I've taken has giving different readings :p :D :D I usually drive it at least 3-4 days out of the work week. Sometimes on Sat and/or Sundays, I'll take the Mustang to work, other then that, the Mustang gets most duty. It's just too d*mn expensive to drop nearly $100 into the Burban every couple of days. Especially right now when I'm in a "transition" phase, financially. Boy, once this "phase" is past me, I'll be in MUCH better standings!
442 Harv Aug 14th, 05, 5:42 PM My 71 BB Elco is my daily driver. 10-12 MPG Get a lot of thumbs up.
