I'm looking for someone to recover a set of sunvisors for my '64 Chevelle.
I purchased a headliner kit from OPG that has the material for the visors and sail panels but every upholstery shop that I have talked to tells me it takes a special foot on the sewing machine to stitch the edge.Has anyone had any experience in having this done?

I ran into the same dilemma when my headliner was done in march. Everyone advised me to buy new visors, saying it would be cheeper and less trouble in the long run. I got lazy and still havent bought them.

I tried to buy new visors when I bought the headliner but they didn't match. When I called OPG they told me the headliner and visors came from different suppliers and they couldn't do anything but give me credit if I wanted to return the visors , which I did.I'll keep looking ,if I find anyone I,ll post it.

Thanks

Who was the maker of the head liner from OPG? Maybe you could ask these people. http://stores.ebay.com/vinyl-specialties_1964-65-GM-A-body-coupe_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQtZkm They have a store on ebay. I had the same problem as you but my visors were not bad at all just missing a few threads other than that they were great, Iam a perfectionist and my new project is a convertible and might be seen a little closer with the top down. So I got a set from these people on ebay and I"ll be dam they look EXACT as my originals and I mean perfect match..You might go as far as to send them a SAMPLE peice of your head liner or what ever OPG gave you to work with for your recover and ask the people on ebay if they have something that will be the right color & grain for your visors...Then sit back and have a COLD BEER dont waste your time trying to recover your old visors I have been theie done that and was a waste of time!:beers:

I recieved a reply from vinyl-specialties. He said if I sent the material from the kit he could make a set of visors so I packed up the material and we'll see what we get. It looks like he will be able to fix me up.I'll post something when I get them back. thanks again for the info.
