It is like the kickdown cable hooked to the carb on a th-350 trans. On a th-400 trans, it is called a kickdown control module. I think it hooks up to the gas pedal (i know does somewhere!?). Umm, if you don't know what it's for- when you are cruising in say 2nd or 3rd gear and you go to pass someone, you floor it and the car kicks in. It is downshifting to give you more power. Also, if you are at a stop and floor it, the shift points are changed, you stay in the gears longer to make better use of the power band.

well ive got the switch that originally came with my car that the gas petal presses. All my wiring is out of a 72 Chevelle tho and im trying to figure how to hook this kickdown up.
