Here is a good one for you..

What is the "goop" that is under the stainless trim across the windshield header in my '66 convertible?. It was also under the stainless moulding on each of the "A" pillars. If you can identify it...where can I get some to replace it? To me, it looks like what we used to call "Monkey S%$t" when I worked with the electricians in the Coast Guard.

It was still sticky and pliable after all these years. And I want to put in new stuff when I reassemble.

Any help??

thanks

Mike

I believe that stuff is called Butyl Tape. It was mainly used as a sealant to keep water out. You can usually find this on the heater box where it mounts up to the fire wall or the A/C box in the same manner.
