I'm looking at several 1970 El Caminos right now, I think I've found the one I want and the price is right, but I noticed that the new vinyl top on it hhas a seam in the center instead of two down the sides. I would like all of your opinions on what you think I should do about it. Looks to me like an aftermarket vinyl top..
The ones that are sold in NPD look very similar to this one..

I think its an original Non-vinyl top car..
Check the Cowl Tag or Building sheet if you have..

I have an orginal vinyl top on my '72, it has the 2 seams out towards the sides. I would say that this vinyl top that you are looking at is a replacement.

NPD=National parts depo, an aftermarket supplier for Chevelles and others. The top looks good but to be correct it should have 2 seams not one. OPG(Original Parts Group)has one advertised to be like the original for $59.95. Should be able to get it installed for $100-$150 max. TC sponser ground up probably has the tops also.

I almost went and looked at that car 4 months ago when I was looking for my elco. I would be very careful and look the car over well. How much is he down in price to now? Make sure there is metal under that vinyl top.
