Hey guys, I know the firing order, but looking at the dist. cap. how are the wires configured in a clockwise pattern starting at # 1 My dist. got broken and I think a couple of wires were miss connected.. HELP!!! 350 chev. 1969-1972 block. Dist w/points.The Dist. s positioned right. Thanks Harry Hut

18436572 clockwise around the cap from where the rotor points at #1 tdc on the compression stroke.

And the rotor SHOULD point at the terminal most directly above the dwell-adjusting window. Kinda looks like it's growing out of the edge of the window. (On an HEI, it's two terminals over from the forward edge of the square-ish connector block molded into the cap.) Other engine families locate #1 differently.

Plenty of folks will (correctly) state that it doesn't matter which terminal the rotor points at, as long as the wires follow in order, and the initial timing is correct. True, but it's so EASY to set it up to factory spec.
