The front header bar on my 69 Malibu convertible is rusted (visible after removing top material). A catalogue from Early Birds in downsview (Toronto). lists the part at $595 CDN.
Does anyone know of a good one for sale or what kind of deal I can get in the states?

A couple of years ago I paid over $350 USD for a repro. They're not cheap.

If it's only on the part that is underneath the top material, why not have some new metal welded in at a body shop? They could metal finish it and it would be hidden once the new top is installed.

local paper has a 69 convertable frame with header for $300USD.. if your interested let me know I think I'm going to go buy the ss dash and brakes tonight from the guy. I don't know what shipping would be buy you'd have to pay shipping on a new part.. and I'll send it for actual shipping price if ya want.

Sorry guys I ended up not going to get the stuff, changed my mind I want new brakes I think and he didn't sound sure they would even still work. Dash was a 70 and so was the top frame.

Thanks for the replies guys. My bar is only rusted near the front so I will attempt to fix it with fibrglass. As bill mentioned, once the material is in place, it won't be seen.
