My 93 suburban transmission just started to shift out late-whines out way too far under normal driving! I disconnected the kickdown cable and it made no difference! the fluid smells a little burnt! I don't know if it is a major repair or something minor! I might pull the pan this week and check it 1st! Any ideas or things to check as to what might cause this late shifting-thanks in advance!
If you smell burnt fluid than I'd start off with draining the fluid and changing the fluid/filter. Sounds like the fluid is NDG. (no damn good).

yeah, also if that "kickdown" cable you disconnected is the tv cable, (don't know what trans uses those) i understand that has to be adjusted just right for the trans to operate properly. also i understand that you can cook the trans if it is not adjusted right. Might be worth looking into before you drive it a lot more.

It is temporarily parked till pulling the pan and checking it there! The tv cable goes to the trans ducer or cruise-The dealer gave me the wrong one-the long one to the pan instead! It just has over 100 k miles! My 88 silverado went 266K before going out-it still has original engine too! I just think that it can't be something major wrong-But will see! Thanks for all the responses so far!
