: 1/4 finals
Bob West Aug 7th, 05, 12:26 PM After a long absence from the money window, I was able to make it to the 1/4 finals and get a little check. I might have went farther had I not shifted to neutral on my last pass, got that reverse valve body in the car now and its tough to teach old dogs new tricks, been shifting forward for so long, I need to tattoo PULL on my eye lids :( I also made one pass leaving in 2nd gear  (had to buyback in) We only had one time shot yesterday after a 4 hr rain delay and then we only raced 1/8th mile in order to get racing over with by a decent hour. So one time shot, new valve body,1/8th mile racing all in all it wasnt too bad, by the way, I hate 1/8th mile racing, its over before you get started :) Looks like TNT for me this coming friday, 2 weeks before the next race. The valve body DID cure my transmission woes, SO FAR, :clonk:
We don't have to change your name back to "1/4 finals Bob" again, do we? :D Better than "1st round runner up Bob" though.
Bob West Aug 7th, 05, 2:03 PM It felt good to go rounds, you can call me whatever you want Jim, I'll take a check, no matter how small :D (40.00) It pays for half a trip to the track  Just gotta get used to shifting backwards ;)
Ahhh, just busting your a$$. Don't take me too serious, I haven't even been th the strip yet. So I have nothing to back me up.
BillsCamino Aug 7th, 05, 4:07 PM Bob,
You pretty much just confirmed what I expected from myself. I ordered a new tranny this week with a forward manual valve body. The one presently in the car is full auto, so one change at a time for me.
I figured with a reverse vb, I'd be in neutral all the time.
Nice going on the $$$.
Keep us post on the upcoming T&T results. I'm interested in your proposed changes...
Bob West Aug 7th, 05, 7:12 PM I went ahead and ordered the 2" tubes 3" collector Hedmans today. We don't race for a couple weeks,it'll give me a chance to make the swap and get the exhaust hooked back up. When I look under the hood, see those tiny tubes, I can't help but think 500 cubes needs a little more than that, we'll find out. I think you're making a wise choice Bill, its hard to teach an old dog, new tricks.
Very nice Bob! Here's hoping the trans problems are a memory. It does take a while to "reprogram" the driver. My good friend swapped a glide for a 400 in his Cram-air-o, he's still trying to remember the 2-3 shift! How's them new gears feel to you? I would think a full pass the whole length of the track will tell.............any change in the 60'?
71malibu406 Aug 8th, 05, 6:45 AM congrats on the cash, what did you run? i'm gonn bust your balls just once more....i see 500 cubes under your hood and can't help but think you need at LEAST 2" tubes and 3 1/2" collectors. good luck with your header install and your upcoming race.
Bob West Aug 8th, 05, 7:42 AM 60 ft times were 1.56-.57 with a whole lot of twistin going on, I am going to put the air bag back in the right rear spring,,,might get them back where they were 1.51-1.52. I ran a best of 7.25@90mph 1/8th mile off the throttle scrubbing 4 mph, also ran 7.23@94 DA was at 2800ft with 82% relative humidity. It was hooking good, cars were covered with dew, windows fogging over, engines breathing water :)
Ron454 Aug 8th, 05, 12:07 PM Nice weather Bob.......
We rarely get that here, but I've seen it.
Kills the performance.
Good job on the 1/4's. That ought to move you up in the points a bit.
I'm laughing at (with) you on the missed gear changes. Exactly why I used the TransGo shift kit...it retains the forward pattern. At my age, I don't need one more thing to think about.
You will get used to it......
Ron
