I have a 66 chevelle with a 454 and the starter crapped out. I replaced it and had no problems and started to shim it. I didn't notice the battery cable was frayed and when it hit the dipstick it caught on fire. Fried the solenid so I replaced it and the battery cable. Still no power throughout the whole car. No lights no click on the starter nothing. Checked the battery its still good. Changed the ignition switch still nothing. I've followed all the wires from the starter to there wiring harnesses nothing else is burnt. I have no clue what to do.

On your 66 except for starter power, all power runs down to the horn relay. From there it heads into the car. If you don't have 12 volts on the horn relay or the BAT terminal on the fuse block, may have poped a fusible link.

Thanks for responding. I've been looking at all my wiring diagrams and in my tech books and I still have no clue where the horn relay is... I've followed all the wires and haven't felt any fusible links... I hate electrical problems

Horn relay is on the rad support on the drivers side. 14g fusible link at the battery and a 16g fusible link at the horn relay. Do not use regular wire to replace a fusible link. Fusible links are a safety device

Ok so I'm dumb.... Was fooling around with my multimeter and shook the battery around to get the ground out of the way. My electic fan kicked on. Then I tested all the wires and I'm getting power to everything. Starter clicks now but dosnt engage the flywheel or spin. So I'm just gonna take it back. God bless the 3 year warranty. Thanks for your help
