I have a rebuild kit, and was thinking I would just replace the front springs, since it's going to be apart. Here's the thing, I run a 16x7 wheel with stock spindles (I still have drum brakes), I want to go as low as I can, does anyone think 3" drop it too much? And how can I order a "stiffer" spring?

3" drop is alot to retain drivabilty if you are just going to use springs. I would go with a 2" dropped spindle, and cut a half of a coil out of your stock spring. Use a cut off wheel , dont use a torch, to much heat will cause the spring to sag

I run a 5" drop and drive mine as a daily driver with 255/40R17's. No problems...although my Super Comp headers probably don't like me very much (they hate speed bumps).

...and you don't run inner fenders, and you have very stiff springs compared to stock. Both factor considerably where and how much your tires may rub.

True no inner fenders, but I was running cut down stockers and it actually sat lower before going to the GN style springs and it had inners at that time.

It's all about how much compromise you are willing to make. My 90 Chevy full size had a 6/8 dop and I drove the hell out of it. Most would not as it was difficult in speed bump conditions, construction zones and rough roads...but I loved it.

Grand National....ala circle track racing suppliers. They are the same springs the Nextel Cup boys just down on the rate a bit.
