Was over to a local bodyshop checking on a paint job today. When the owner saw my 67 Elky, he asked if it was an original BB, since it had the SS hood, which he called a "Big Block" hood. I told him that my info (from this site) said that there were no SS Elky's until 68, and that the hood was transplanted from a 'velle. Although I have seen many pics of 67 Elky's with SS hoods, I thought they were just a popular transplant. Whats up?

I too, agree that it is just a popular swap. It is just one of those incorrect "facts" that gets spread out of ingorance.

The Terry Boyce book on SS vehicles indicates that ElCamino could get just about all the optional equipment you got on a SS Chevelle, except the hood. The photo he has shows a 67 Elky with the cross flag emblems of a 396, but no SS hood.
