The bolted section of the bed that butts up to the bulk-head, has lifted up and causes leaking into the cab. Is this a common problem? How do I fix it? Any help most appreciated.
Thanks

The cover over the "smugglers box" has seen much debate here and elswhere.
It is not meant to be a waterproof lid, if you remove it you will see drainage holes of good size on both sides, make sure they are clear. If water is getting into the car from this area it must be coming in around the compartment behind the driver seat. I'd be more suspicous of the rear window moulding or the vertical body seams on either side and below the window. Can you see from the inside where the leak originates?

The smuggler's box is a prime place for corrosion but the rear window is usually the major culpret. There are a couple of suppliers that sell new metal for under the rear window to weld in or you can fabricate your own.

Also the seam where the flange for the cover meets the bulkhead can be a problem. Dirt and trash can accumulate there and draw moisture.
I'm on my fourth Elky now and you can bet I seal the cover of mine!! I use strip caulking on the bottom and urethane seam sealer on the front and sides of the top of the panel. Don't use silcone or any non paintable caulking/sealer!!!

Thanks for the replies. The H2O comes directly and with great volume into the storage compartment behind the drivers seat, so I think it's a problem under the smugglers box. I'll yank it and have a look and let you know.
Thanks again

I finally removed the lid to the smugglers box and discovered that the H20 was getting in through all the huge cracks in the plastic storage compartment. Holes are clear. How was the lid sealed from the factory? Mine had a bead of tan colored caulk on all touching surfaces. Thanks
