I have a '69 Chevelle with a 2-tone paint job that is incomplete. Besides the rocker panel area, does the second (accent) color go in front of the front wheel well, behind the rear wheel wheel well. How about the area behind the front bumper and the area just below the trunk? Thanks - Lee

You can check the promo Ads from 69 here: http://www.chevelles.com/years/69/promos.html They show second color in a couple of pix.

I didn't find any two tone cars there. Does anyone have a picture of a factory two tone 69? Or are we just talking about a different color on the top?

Thanks for the website of the promo ads. The shot of the convertible gives me a good idea of the 2-tone paint scheme, and confirms the areas where the paint should go. My car actually looks like the first one - black vinyl top, red paint with black second accent color.......trying to get it right.

Now you got me confused, Lee. In 69, the Malibu had silver along the bottom of the car (like the photo of the convertible shows) bordered by a strip of molding. I don't remember any with black down there. I think all the 68 SS's were black along the bottom, though. Like this photo.... http://www.chevelles.com/years/68/sportcoupe.html

Danny.....OK about the silver. Was that the only color (silver) used in the 2-tone schemes of the '69s? I did have a brand new '69 when I got out of college and it was green with the silver accent color. I have a pix of a Dick Harrel '68 with the red/black combo (like the one you sent me). I didn't know if they carried it through to '69. Also, do you have the names of the different colors that were available in '69? Mine is red, but I'm not sure if it is the '68 or a '69 red.

Danny...Oops.....found the '69 colors. My red looks like your Elky re-paint which looks like the '68 Matador red.

My red is R E A L L Y red. It's the current Chevy truck color, Victory Red. I, too, had a brand new 69 Malibu. You can see original photos of it on my web page. They are in black and white, though. I believe ALL Malibus got the silver accent color.

Danny.....Thanks for all of your input. It has helped clarify everything regarding the paint on my '69. It looks like I have a '69 with a '68 paint scheme. Since I do not have any history of my car - it came to Michigan from a dealership in California last year - the red could be something not used in '68 or '69, although it does appear close to photos that I have seen of Matador Red.
Again thanks for you help.....Lee
