Can a da sander get worn out to the point its so week that when you try to use it it just stops on the part to be sanded? i recintly picked one up at a pawn shop and I think I got riped off.Compressor turned up to 90psi.(craftsman 30 gal). :(

Try oiling it. it may help.Mine stalls when it needs oiling.

Lube is always good. Make sure the little knob that controls the speed is open wide (if equipped) Beyond that, you may want to pull off the hose nipple on the tool and have a look there. Many air tools have a small screen or filter in there, and it may be clogged.

if is a cheap one, you might not enough cfm to run it. My bluepoint runs all day on my 6 hp 30 gallon but my 30.oo cheapo runs for about 30 sec. then bogs down.

Probably the Voluume of air not the pressure. I have a cheap one that runs all day on my 5 horse single stage compresser, I bought a snap on and it wouldnt run, I had to return it.

Its a Irsal Rand (sp),I did put a few drops of oil in it befor I tried it.I'll check for a screen.I also brought a new in line sander, same brand and it rocks! no problem for compressor to run that.Do new da sanders have air compsumption requirements with them? I'm still bummed about it.Thanks for the replys so far...Ed smile.gif

I have some Blue Point sanders and some Chicago Pnumatics(sp) sanders and they all work great with my compressor, but not the DA. I dont know why.
Bummer.

Try spraying some break cleaner down the air inlet then plug it in and run it till it's all blown out then pour ALOT of air tool oil down it and run it till blown out.Old tool man trick ;) Air tools will get a varnish built up in them that sticks the air vanes in them. You can't hurt them by doing this several times.Problem is,most guys don't want to oil a DA for fear of it "spitting" oil out on the sanded area so they don't tend to last as long as other air tools :(
