It is very obvious that the second auction was a scam done with a stolen ID, happens all the time. I hope that guy didn't lose his $7400.00.

I'm thinking the buyer is going to lose his money, if he really believes he's gettin' that car for that price. :clonk:
67 vette guy Aug 3rd, 05, 5:45 PM I did not know you could get a 5 speed in a Yenko Camaro either...
irongolf Aug 4th, 05, 4:42 AM Ok so someone bought a ZL1 motor for a camaro in 1982 and the car obviously is in awesome shape, so 100,000,worth it, yea probably, whats the problem besides the bogus second auction
tmino Aug 4th, 05, 11:10 AM This must have been a scam because now they have removed it from their listings.

This car came up for sale a few months back. The biggest problem with the car is the vin. It was originally a 6cyl car. Whoever built the car did a nice job, but there's no lying about the background of that one, and the stigma of it "only" being a 6cyl originally will always hold the value down. So what did the engine cost this guy? And what did the restoration cost, if it was in fact a really nice car to start with? The numbers just don't add up to what he's askin' for it. That happens alot these days. ;)
DaleM Aug 5th, 05, 8:16 AM I noticed the 'Yenko' casting on the block and remember reading somewhere he cast his own blocks until he convinced GM to offer them as COPOs. Could be the reason for the 6-cyl VIN and still might be an 'original' Yenko Camaro but not a GM COPO Camaro. I'd question that GM sold Yenko the rights to make the blocks...but could be.
Olle Aug 5th, 05, 12:25 PM Don't know how legit the car is, but the second auction was a scam. Someone obviously used someone else's eBay ID to repost the car. This is getting real old now, I'm surprised that anyone has the guts to bid on cars on eBay anymore.

I think you are right i read at a show which this guy had 2 Orginal Yenkos that Yenko had opened his Chevy Dealership and Put high Performance Options on them he bought them from Chevy Cheap because only thing he was going to do is cut off the leaf springs. Throw the engines and put Bigger Better in it. So why would you buy a 8 cyl for extra money when you can just buy a stock one save alot of money hand have the same car but the yenko became such a crave for horsepower GM and yenko became in together were they became Special orders COPO threw other dealerships.

It's the other way around...Chevrolet did it first, then when they bailed on aluminum big blocks sold the casting stuff to Yenko, who produced aluminum "Yenko" blocks in all varieties (standard deck, tall deck, press in freeze plugs, screw in freeze plugs, etc.), but except for the addition of the "YENKO" lettering of Yenko crest, they were identical to the factory pieces...
irongolf Aug 8th, 05, 8:18 AM Yea but even if it started as a 6 cylinder, the car is immaculate, and the block, and where the work was performed documentation seems to be perfect. Maybe it's not a 100,000 dollars car, but it's definately worth more than 60000. Just my opinion, but I have seen L78 Chevelle clones that were PERFECT go for 70000; 100,000 with real Yenko engine work done by the dealer, why not!
