quikss Aug 2nd, 05, 12:56 PM Buckets.
The honey can wait until my hands are a little less busy anyways.
Jeff
Bowtie-72 Aug 2nd, 05, 1:05 PM build sheet says bench, but I got buckets
I like the look of both but prefer buckets with console shift.
Wwalstrom Aug 2nd, 05, 1:10 PM ok, are you a bench seat or bucket seat person?
buckets.
a. Buckets look really cool
b. floor shift!
You can have a floor shift with EITHER.
I have buckets ... wish I had a bench though ...
BillsCamino Aug 2nd, 05, 1:13 PM One of each...
'70 is bench; '72 is buckets.
I've been thinking about swapping this arrangement around.
72silverchevelle Aug 2nd, 05, 1:45 PM I'v got buckets. I like them more than the bench, it just feels funner to drive.
1BLACKHARLEY Aug 2nd, 05, 1:51 PM i have a bench in the elky. if i had the $, i'd have somebody do a cool semi bucket (contour) on the bench, and by the way, my bench has a 4-speed....
jjsledd Aug 2nd, 05, 1:52 PM Buckets, just my preference.
ssal396 Aug 2nd, 05, 2:12 PM Buckets & four on the floor  :beers:
Scott
71Sprint Aug 2nd, 05, 2:12 PM I've got aftermarket buckets and love them. If anyone want's my bench from the Sprint let me know and you can have it. It needs reupulstering and stuff. Pick it up and it's yours.
supersport396_2000 Aug 2nd, 05, 2:17 PM Buckets for that secure side to side feeling but bench for comfort and long trips.
Buckets always look better for a sportier compact interior.
RedSS454 Aug 2nd, 05, 2:37 PM d. the "honey who is in the car with you can get VERY CLOSE!
Buckets and a console 4-Speed. If the "honey" is good, she would sit on the console;)
Chris
Surfcat64 Aug 2nd, 05, 2:50 PM When I was single and dating, it was bench seat and four speed. While shifting gears, you could cop a feel once in a while.
Since married, it's bucket seats, automatic and the ever important married man's accessory, ear plugs.
Bench. Not as comfortable as buckets, but it's very convenient when you have a 5-year old boy. Those consoles break easily when you step on them.
GRN69CHV Aug 2nd, 05, 5:17 PM Bench w/ auto and floor shifter, nothing like a big car with a bench seat for cruising.
CheZeppelinCorps Aug 2nd, 05, 5:29 PM Buckets with a nice B&M shifter on the floor. Besides if you really want to have fun theres always the bench in the back. Ahh the good old worn out backseat.
saturnstyl Aug 2nd, 05, 6:17 PM Bench... Everybody has buckets so the bench is just a bit different :)
keithb Aug 2nd, 05, 6:46 PM Buckets with a 4 speed console the only way to have a car
John D Aug 2nd, 05, 7:13 PM I've got an Elky - Don't matter - we can move to the "bed" if the mood strikes! ;)
(Don't y'all carry blankets for just such an occasion??) :p
Hi-po SS 454 Aug 2nd, 05, 7:15 PM Buckets, with shifter between Her legs. Uncomfortable ?? No, I'm VERY comfortable.
Tom's 68 Aug 2nd, 05, 7:41 PM got buckets from the factory in the vert
SS was an original bench that is going to be converted to buckets
so I must definately like buckets more
imchefbrian Aug 2nd, 05, 8:10 PM ok.
Im a bench man
Professor_SS Aug 2nd, 05, 8:15 PM Buckets in the 72, the bruiser, the 70 will be the cruiser, with some bite, but with an auto and air and it will have a bench so the Mrs can snuggle on those long trips to let say..... maybe Tenn..... :D
elco68 Aug 2nd, 05, 8:28 PM Bench,automatic on the column
SweetShot Aug 2nd, 05, 8:34 PM Buckets which is good, when ya keep the car so clean the corners make it hard to stay in the seat on benches. Oh and auto on the floor. :D
rachael anne :waving:
Marci Aug 2nd, 05, 9:05 PM Well, I'm the odd one around here for sure....bench with a COLUMN shifter....hee hee
thunderstruck507 Aug 2nd, 05, 9:42 PM My car was bench/column and I almost didn't buy it because of that
Passed up on several really nice cars because of it. Nothing sporty about bench seats. Look bad, uncomfortable, driver/passenger have to have same adjustment, no console, no armrest for right arm.
JJ67SS Aug 2nd, 05, 10:08 PM Bench with a 4 speed.....
fatboy95 Aug 2nd, 05, 10:36 PM Bench with shifter on column... not sure if I will convert to buckets but thinking about putting a B&M shifter on the floor... I have always had buckets but since now married I was thinking of keeping the bench... plus it is different now a days...
BlueSS454 Aug 2nd, 05, 11:07 PM I have one of each :).
1970SS396&1967 Aug 2nd, 05, 11:22 PM 70-bench
67-buckets
I like em both! The 4 speed stick in the 70 looks cool with the bench IMO.
Jim Mac Aug 3rd, 05, 12:24 AM bucket in the chevelle bench in the el camino jim
ToocoolZ28 Aug 3rd, 05, 12:33 AM Bench with 5 speed.
Ron
Clint44 Aug 3rd, 05, 1:04 AM Bench with 6spd but just bought a pair of aftermarket buckets & harnesses.
somuscle70 Aug 3rd, 05, 3:42 AM I had a bench when I bought the car and put 01 SS Camaro leather bucket seats in it.
70 Chevelle buckets are just to expensive for me right now.
Chris R Aug 3rd, 05, 3:52 AM Buckets.
The rear bench seat is always there for you and your honey to get close also. :D
Sgtpop Aug 3rd, 05, 4:37 AM Buckets and a console 4-Speed. If the "honey" is good, she would sit on the console;)
Chris
Ive had both, the wife used to sit on a pillow on the console in my 66 when we were dating in the sixties. She knew when to slide over. I didnt have to tell her, When the guy pulled up and nodded at the light, she knew that there was some serious business to take care of. With the 69 and bench seats all she did was slide over a little, but could lean over on my right shoulder. I prefer buckets, but bench is nice to. Yes those were the days!
Buckets,
Benches are nice, but they make it look like your parents car.
The buckets just look more musclecar-y.
Wwalstrom Aug 3rd, 05, 7:36 AM I've got aftermarket buckets and love them. If anyone want's my bench from the Sprint let me know and you can have it. It needs reupulstering and stuff. Pick it up and it's yours.
How much would shipping to Minnesota cost ... J/K
hoffbug Aug 3rd, 05, 8:52 AM Bench with column shifter and a rollbar
http://www.chevelles.com/feature/july2003_interior_.jpg
MileHiSS Aug 3rd, 05, 9:40 AM Bench with a 4 speed.....
ditto on originality......not seen much anymore
ElkyVelle69 Jul 5th, 06, 2:38 PM When I purchased my elky, It came w/ a bench seat. I was a little disapointed, because I always liked buckets, just the fact that they look more sportier and along the with center console, it made the car look more attractive! I just purchased bucket seats this weekend, and I'm stoked about it!. So I would say the bucket seats! It's not like I have anything against the bech, it was fun while it lasted.
Bob West Jul 5th, 06, 2:42 PM Bench w/floor shifter. Would like to have buckets, but like the more stock appearing interior.
mr 4 speed Jul 5th, 06, 3:02 PM all 3 of my toys have buckets/console
i have a bench in the elky. if i had the $, i'd have somebody do a cool semi bucket (contour) on the bench, and by the way, my bench has a 4-speed....
Yeah, THAT'S the idea! I want to do the same thing. The bench is toast, and you really feel the lean when you corner over 5mph. It doesn't exactly hold you in the seat.
Right now the car has a very worn, stock bench seat and a floor shift for the four speed.
The ex-GF loved the bench seat.
Dan72 Jul 5th, 06, 3:17 PM LOL you guys are funny!
Buckets.
I'm married, man, so my copping a feel days are well behind me :(
gotago Jul 5th, 06, 3:19 PM You can have a floor shift with EITHER.
I have buckets ... wish I had a bench though ...
I'll trade you!!
ed3196499 Jul 5th, 06, 4:43 PM Bench... Everybody has buckets so the bench is just a bit different :)
My thoughts exactly. I like my bench seat and the look of a bench car with a 4 spd no console just a simple boot
texastornado Jul 5th, 06, 4:46 PM Buckets are "cooler", bench seats more comfy. I personally prefer the buckets!!!!!!!
charbilly2001 Jul 6th, 06, 5:45 PM I beg your pardon?? Don't you think that's just a bit personal?
Marina_Blue_67_SS Jul 6th, 06, 8:14 PM Just pulled the bench out and installed buckets and a console. The bench seat will be a good couch for the basement.
FancyBoy Jul 6th, 06, 8:45 PM Currently, a bench seat with a 4 speed. But I am contemplating converting to buckets for 2 reasons.
#1- I like the look of a bench seat car with a 4 speed, but the buckets expound on the chrome trim (dash, etc) with that plastic chrome strip around the back and bottom of the seats.
They also look good with a short straight Hurst shifter stick..without a console.
#2- The bench seat I have in there now is too soft for my taste, although new foam may disqualify this reason.
...a tough decision for me.
66SSFan Jul 6th, 06, 8:50 PM I have buckets out of a '70 in my '66, love those head rests.
68KMENO Jul 6th, 06, 11:25 PM NO contest... bench wins.... when its a El Camino & you want to carry more then two people......besides saves time by not having to climb into the back seat & loose the Mood .......
FunkyNova66 Jul 7th, 06, 12:21 AM I have a 66 Chevy II sedan 100-series. To see buckets in a sedan is like seeing a bench in a corvette. Bench seat all the way (for me)!!

zombie1974 Jul 7th, 06, 12:39 AM Got a bench in the '72 4-door, love it. I agree that it doesn't hold you in place. No seats in either the '72 project elky and the '69 project elky, will probably put whatever I find first in them. The '72 SS Elky has tiny buckets from some late-80s import (best guess). I hate them. I got a bench from 66 Buick Special (Thanks!!!!!) that I'm going to put in as soon as my wife is done upholstering it. It's a luxury type split bench with the fold down arm in the center. Since the SS was originally bench/column, I'm putting the bench back in and getting rid of the hacked-in buckets.
Bench for me! Even cooler with a stickshift!
Wwalstrom Jul 7th, 06, 10:34 AM I'll trade you!!
If you make it to Minnesota in the next year or two, bring the bench and we'll talk ...
Derek69SS Jul 7th, 06, 10:41 AM If you make it to Minnesota in the next year or two, bring the bench and we'll talk ...I'm already in MN, and would be willing to trade this week :D My bench is in great shape, except for a few places where the original cloth is worn through.
704EVER Jul 7th, 06, 11:21 AM Original bench seat, took it out and went to buckets and a 4-speed console. I like the bucket look, although I'll always keep the bench because it was the original.
dreis454 Jul 7th, 06, 11:45 AM Buckets & four on the floor  :beers:
Scott
me too!
Dan72 Jul 7th, 06, 11:48 AM Buckets and six on the floor are within my grasp!
Buckets for me! Currently I've got a bench in the car that I HATE! It's comfy and all, but as everyone knows, you can't make a left turn without making an attempt to sit in the passenger seat/on top of your passenger :p :D I had some buckets that I yanked from a '91 Firebird a few years ago. I had put them in but never bolted them down right. I only had 1 bolt holding each seat down. Then when I got serious about taking my car to the track, I put the bench back in. Anyway, I can't have have a floor shifter in my car with a bench. Personally, I don't like the idea of having to reach down to my knees, or past them, to reach for the shifter. I want my floor shifter right next to me! :D
chevelledude71 Jul 8th, 06, 2:10 PM Started out as bench w/column, now it's buckets w/floor shifter. I think the buckets make it look more "muscular". This is of course my opinion, so those of you w/the big block bench cars...no offense. :)
bandit67 Jul 8th, 06, 5:47 PM Have both , but prefer the bench, with four speed............
SebJr Jul 8th, 06, 6:43 PM Bench, with 3 speed.... because all doc's say so! When I got the car it had buckets and 4 speed with no console ..... not good!!! put the original bench and 3 speed back in ...much better now. Wouldn't mind a bucket car but most definitely would have to have console.
Seb
Phil Keller Jul 8th, 06, 7:20 PM Buckets and 4-speed/console please.
Freddy Mercado Jul 8th, 06, 9:55 PM Bucket dude here!!!
bob_adamsky Jul 8th, 06, 11:03 PM Bench and a 4 speed
esponet Jul 8th, 06, 11:14 PM my old 69 had buckets, my 70 now has bench.
i like how the buckets look and feel, but the bench is starting to grow on me.
funny thing is that i used to drive a pick up and when ever me and the wifey would ride it, (even back when we were younger and just dating) she never sat in the middle. always sat by the window.
SS4Real Jul 9th, 06, 12:37 AM Bench with 4 speed. Way cooler and less common.
Mine was ordered with buckets without console and column shift.
69malibu3speed Jul 9th, 06, 5:51 PM Bench with factory three-speed floor shift.
Andy69 Jul 9th, 06, 6:08 PM I've got a bench, I have a set of buckets to recover, but I'm not sure yet about using them. Buckets are definitely better looking, but are sort of a cliche. I might have to flip a coin.
Andy
Methoder2 Jul 9th, 06, 6:25 PM Bench. Most Definetly.
