I've been thinking about swapping this arrangement around.

I'v got buckets. I like them more than the bench, it just feels funner to drive.

i have a bench in the elky. if i had the $, i'd have somebody do a cool semi bucket (contour) on the bench, and by the way, my bench has a 4-speed....

I've got aftermarket buckets and love them. If anyone want's my bench from the Sprint let me know and you can have it. It needs reupulstering and stuff. Pick it up and it's yours.

Buckets for that secure side to side feeling but bench for comfort and long trips.

Buckets always look better for a sportier compact interior.

When I was single and dating, it was bench seat and four speed. While shifting gears, you could cop a feel once in a while.
Since married, it's bucket seats, automatic and the ever important married man's accessory, ear plugs.

Bench. Not as comfortable as buckets, but it's very convenient when you have a 5-year old boy. Those consoles break easily when you step on them.

Bench w/ auto and floor shifter, nothing like a big car with a bench seat for cruising.

Buckets with a nice B&M shifter on the floor. Besides if you really want to have fun theres always the bench in the back. Ahh the good old worn out backseat.

Bench... Everybody has buckets so the bench is just a bit different :)

Buckets in the 72, the bruiser, the 70 will be the cruiser, with some bite, but with an auto and air and it will have a bench so the Mrs can snuggle on those long trips to let say..... maybe Tenn..... :D

Buckets which is good, when ya keep the car so clean the corners make it hard to stay in the seat on benches. Oh and auto on the floor. :D

My car was bench/column and I almost didn't buy it because of that

Passed up on several really nice cars because of it. Nothing sporty about bench seats. Look bad, uncomfortable, driver/passenger have to have same adjustment, no console, no armrest for right arm.

Bench with shifter on column... not sure if I will convert to buckets but thinking about putting a B&M shifter on the floor... I have always had buckets but since now married I was thinking of keeping the bench... plus it is different now a days...

Bench with 6spd but just bought a pair of aftermarket buckets & harnesses.

I had a bench when I bought the car and put 01 SS Camaro leather bucket seats in it.
70 Chevelle buckets are just to expensive for me right now.

Ive had both, the wife used to sit on a pillow on the console in my 66 when we were dating in the sixties. She knew when to slide over. I didnt have to tell her, When the guy pulled up and nodded at the light, she knew that there was some serious business to take care of. With the 69 and bench seats all she did was slide over a little, but could lean over on my right shoulder. I prefer buckets, but bench is nice to. Yes those were the days!

When I purchased my elky, It came w/ a bench seat. I was a little disapointed, because I always liked buckets, just the fact that they look more sportier and along the with center console, it made the car look more attractive! I just purchased bucket seats this weekend, and I'm stoked about it!. So I would say the bucket seats! It's not like I have anything against the bech, it was fun while it lasted.

Yeah, THAT'S the idea! I want to do the same thing. The bench is toast, and you really feel the lean when you corner over 5mph. It doesn't exactly hold you in the seat.

Right now the car has a very worn, stock bench seat and a floor shift for the four speed.

The ex-GF loved the bench seat.

Buckets are "cooler", bench seats more comfy. I personally prefer the buckets!!!!!!!

Just pulled the bench out and installed buckets and a console. The bench seat will be a good couch for the basement.

Currently, a bench seat with a 4 speed. But I am contemplating converting to buckets for 2 reasons.

#1- I like the look of a bench seat car with a 4 speed, but the buckets expound on the chrome trim (dash, etc) with that plastic chrome strip around the back and bottom of the seats.
They also look good with a short straight Hurst shifter stick..without a console.

#2- The bench seat I have in there now is too soft for my taste, although new foam may disqualify this reason.

...a tough decision for me.

I have buckets out of a '70 in my '66, love those head rests.

NO contest... bench wins.... when its a El Camino & you want to carry more then two people......besides saves time by not having to climb into the back seat & loose the Mood ....... :thumbsup:

I have a 66 Chevy II sedan 100-series. To see buckets in a sedan is like seeing a bench in a corvette. Bench seat all the way (for me)!!

Got a bench in the '72 4-door, love it. I agree that it doesn't hold you in place. No seats in either the '72 project elky and the '69 project elky, will probably put whatever I find first in them. The '72 SS Elky has tiny buckets from some late-80s import (best guess). I hate them. I got a bench from 66 Buick Special (Thanks!!!!!) that I'm going to put in as soon as my wife is done upholstering it. It's a luxury type split bench with the fold down arm in the center. Since the SS was originally bench/column, I'm putting the bench back in and getting rid of the hacked-in buckets.

Bench for me! Even cooler with a stickshift!

Original bench seat, took it out and went to buckets and a 4-speed console. I like the bucket look, although I'll always keep the bench because it was the original.

Buckets for me! Currently I've got a bench in the car that I HATE! It's comfy and all, but as everyone knows, you can't make a left turn without making an attempt to sit in the passenger seat/on top of your passenger :p :D I had some buckets that I yanked from a '91 Firebird a few years ago. I had put them in but never bolted them down right. I only had 1 bolt holding each seat down. Then when I got serious about taking my car to the track, I put the bench back in. Anyway, I can't have have a floor shifter in my car with a bench. Personally, I don't like the idea of having to reach down to my knees, or past them, to reach for the shifter. I want my floor shifter right next to me! :thumbsup: :D

Started out as bench w/column, now it's buckets w/floor shifter. I think the buckets make it look more "muscular". This is of course my opinion, so those of you w/the big block bench cars...no offense. :)

Bench, with 3 speed.... because all doc's say so! When I got the car it had buckets and 4 speed with no console ..... not good!!! put the original bench and 3 speed back in ...much better now. Wouldn't mind a bucket car but most definitely would have to have console.

my old 69 had buckets, my 70 now has bench.
i like how the buckets look and feel, but the bench is starting to grow on me.

funny thing is that i used to drive a pick up and when ever me and the wifey would ride it, (even back when we were younger and just dating) she never sat in the middle. always sat by the window.

Bench with 4 speed. Way cooler and less common.

Mine was ordered with buckets without console and column shift.

Bench with factory three-speed floor shift.

I've got a bench, I have a set of buckets to recover, but I'm not sure yet about using them. Buckets are definitely better looking, but are sort of a cliche. I might have to flip a coin.
