: POR-ing only the front end for now - will it turn out ok?

In the spring I hope to remove the whole front end of my car and POR the frame up there. Eventually I'd like to do the whole frame but just up front is enough for now. Will it turn out ok? I mean, is there a way to blend an existing coat of POR with a new coat since I would only be doing the front end? Should I just wait until I can get the whole body off?

I did my frame in stages. You can do a good job of blending as long as you topcoat the POR. I ended up re-topcoating the entire frame when I got the body off, and the POR'd sections blended pretty well. It's not perfect, but no one sees it.

I did my frame off the car but I have had to touch up many nicks and they all blend in fine. I used a foam roller to paint the frame with POR-15. Do a search in the suspension thread using my name and "roller" or "foam" for details.

I just did my front end with Por-15 and have used it on many of my restorations in "stages". It blends fine. Use a grinder with a wire brush to get to the metal, it goes on a lot better. Sometimes if your painting surface is too "smooth" the Por-15 can peel off.
