Someone once told me that a 67 El Camino frame is the same as a 67 Chevelle convertible frame. Does anyone know if this is true? Or will it work? What would you have to do to make it work? thanks

Both frames are boxed but the Elky frame is longer...the same length as a wagon.

Will the Elky frame work on a convertible?

...the Elky frame is longer...

Umm...NO. :(
Not without cutting out the extra length and welding the frame peices back together.

Your in luck. A 67 Elky frame will work for a 'vert. You do have to remove the extra length, but it's all in the back. Here is a link to a thread that talks about it.

Thanks for the help. One more question, will a 64, 65, or 66 El Camino frame work for a 67 Chevelle convertible?

All 64 to 67 frames have the same wheelbase and can be made to work. The convertible frames are boxed and have the same rear overhang as a 2D or 4D. The wagons are not boxed and have a longer rear overhang. The Elkys are boxed and have a longer rear overhang. The 67 frame uses a different rear spring than the 64 to 66.
