In my '72 the chrome around the seat belt buckle button is rusty. It is just surface rust. What would be the best way for me to go about cleaning this?

I clean chrome parts with Barkeeper's Friend. Works like a champ on metal parts. It's a powder like comet, only better. I'd be careful about getting it on the seatbelt material though. If you put just a little bit on a damp rag and use that and be careful to keep it away from the material, it should work well

I have an ancient can of Simonize chrome cleaner. Works great but I have not seen it in a store in many years. If you can find it, it is the best I have found.

Is it possible to take the seatbelt apart?

Yes, remove the cover and slide the "lock" all the way forward, then slide the seat belt through....

If you need further help LMK,

BTW- Do you have the deluxe or std. belts?
