When removing the old timing chain and CAM I aligned the dots on the crank gear and cam gear as specified in the service manual. Now with the new double timing crank gear, the dot is not in the same place as the old one and there a three possible positions and none of them gets the dot in the 12 o'clock position that I had taken the old one off at. What do I do.

What double roller chain do you have? I know the 3 way gears have a dot, triangle and square on them. They are close to each keyway and have corresponding marks on the outer part of the gear. THe keyway should be around the 2 o'clock position when the dot is at 12. Hope this helps, if not re post.

Jay, its a summit and the dot is right above the keyway so they are both at 2'oclock now. Suggestions?

More info, the pics I have looked at online at Crane and COMP have the dot at 12 and the keyway at 2 (which matches what I took off). The summit one I have has the dot over the keyway. I think it may be wrong.
