It`s time to rebuild the frontend on my 65. I want to replace everything except the control arms. I`ve found several kits available but I was wondering what you guys recomended. Here is what I plan to replace,

upper and lower ball joints
upper and lower bushings, stock rubber
inner and outer tie rods
idler arm assembly
center link

Opg has a kit for about $500 for everything listed above. Year One was a little cheaper but not much. It`s been years since I did the frontend of my old 69 elco but I can`t remember what the cost was. Is this the going rate or is there a cheaper place? Thanks.

NPD 249.95, but does not include centerlink, it's 109.95

Definately buy a complete kit from a restoration house or PST. I had priced out Moog parts from the parts store and thought I would come out about $75 cheaper or so... in the end I was about $125 more expensive and wished I had bought a kit! :clonk:

Thanks David. I`m pretty sure my last kit came from PST but I got the center link at the local autoparts for cheaper. I`ll check both places. Thanks again guys.

Give your upper control arm bushing a real close look. If they have never been relaced you should. Go with Moog parts when it come to upper ball joints. There is no drilling required everything bolts up to the old location. Other manufactures like McQuay Norris are out of tolerance but shoud be ok for the rest of the suspension. Auto Zone has good prices at one time they were McQuay Norris reboxed.

Thanks. I just ordered my complete frontend kit from PST on Wednesday. I got the bushings, balljoints, tierods, idler arm,and center link. I had to add a few parts to their standard kit but I got everything but the cross shafts for the upper A-arms. I`ll inspect my old ones and see if they need to be replaced. Thanks again.
