I have a 66 Chevelle with 72 Chevelle spindle setup. I ordered the brake lines with this information and the guy said I would need brake lines for a 72 chevelle. Is this correct? I just want to make sure before I get knee deep.

do you mean 72 disc brakes? or just 72 spindles? if its discs, get 72 lines. you may come into some problems with the bracket on the frame where the hoses meet the hard lines....

Try these places. I am sure that you can tell that exactly what you have and they will make the correct lines for you.

It is the '72 disk brake setup (spindles, calipers and rotors).

Off hand I would think you would want the 66 hard lines and 72 flex lines to the calipers?? If everything else is in its stock location, MC, prop valve.....

That's the thing, there is not a stock location for the MC, booster, prop valve since this is a disc conversion. There was not a stock location for 66 disc brakes - was not an option (I don't think). The MC and booster is off a '68 chevelle and the spindles, rotors, etc. are off a '72 and I'm using the '66 control arms. Thanks so far for everyone's help. More suggestions would be appreciated.

I just ordered lines for my 67 with 69 front disc conversion. The folks at "The Right Stuff" said I needed 69 front and intermediate lines, and 67 rear lines. I questioned the '69 intermediate lines and he said you always use those lines to match the conversion. If it's not right, they will make it right.

We'll see, when I put them on.

Thats the same problem I had with my 66 too. Since there was only a single reservior in 66. You run into problems ordering a kit for disc brakes on a 66. I had to wing it and get classic tubes kit for a 66 and use some extra stainless lines they sent to run the extra lines. I couldnt even use the stock brake line that runs to the right front wheel at all. I had to get a regular steel line from a parts store and bend and flare that side. Dont be supprised you need to do some of your own fitting to make this all work. Thats what I had to do.

Hello, This is Todd from The Right Stuff Detailing. todd@getiscbrakes.com
The brake lines that are needed to accompany a disc brake conversion conversion complety depend on what valve you are using. Most disc brake conversion kits use a duplicate of a 1971-1977 gm mid-size car combination valve. So you can order a set of lines that duplicate the lines for a factory disc brake 1971-1972 Chevelle if you are converting one of these two years. You would just need to mount the valve on the frame in its original location. Any other year, you will need a custom line set.

I calle RS Detailing and told them what I had in my 67. Kit fit like a glove and I feel alot better now, 44 year old brake components ARE SCARRY!
