I am restoring the power booster and master cylinder for my 72 malibu w/power drum brakes. The booster was original but the MC had been changed previously. I have obtained the original MC and have bought a rebuild kit which I have verified is correct for the MC part #. The problem is that the rebuild kit is for a long rod set up and the booster and the MC I took off is for a short rod set up. So my question is, can I just swap out the short rod for the long one to make it work with the new MC kit or does this mean I have to find a short rod rebuild kit? I might have an extra long rod from my Camaro booster; that's why I was looking for the lengths to see if that would work. Thanks for your help.
