I blasted mine and painted them with a hi temp cast iron paint.Look pretty good and seem to be holding up just fine.

This is a perfect platform for Por 15. Are they unpainted? If so, just clean them up with some degreaser, rinse thoroughly, dry thoroughly, and apply the Por. You can use regular Por and then topcoat it with Chassis Black if you want a duller finish. Or, if you want the gloss look, leave off the Chassis Black.

I had mine blasted then powder coated. I then had them turned at a brake shop. I also went with the cast iron color.

After turning drums, I thoroughly blast them to remove all scale and rust. Then I paint them with Hith Heat black (color of your choice). One good braking to really heat up the drums will cook the paint on good.

brand new brake drums but they are getting surface rust just by sitting in the garage for a month so i sprayed them with wd 40 until i get the high heat cast iron color paint. i think that will look good. thanks everyone storm

I'm just curious if the POR 15, hi-temp, and baked on finishes would cause it to take longer to dissipate heat???

I just rattle-canned mine with some primer and semi-gloss black and put the coats on thin with the idea that the brakes won't fade as much if they don't hold the heat in.

Doesn't matter to me anymore, I'm putting rear discs on within a week anyway graemlins/thumbsup.gif

i inmagine a couple of coats wont matter at all just enough to keep it from getting rusty.
