When an engine is bored, I know alot isnt taken off. Well maybe in some cases. When boring an engine does that make "more space" meaning a little more oil? Im just wondering what I should be putting in, my dipstick should be accurate but im still learning the quircks, likes and dislikes in my new engine. Also with oil filters, in the length, whats the difference other than holding more oil? Just where space is available? I was looking at K&N HP2002 and HP3002 the HP3002 is .92" taller... curious is all! Thanks guys... If the first question was lame dont hit me too hard!

Boring the block has nothing to do with the amount of oil you put in the oil pan. On the filter deal, if it's a street driven car, I would run the largest filter that will easily fit.

Im overthinking things... I think...! Larger filters for street use? Sounds good. It's an almost everyday driver. Ive always run 10/30 my engine is finally broken in with 600+ miles on it, Ive heard 500+ is a good time to make the plunge into synthetic oils... There have been so many posts about synth. oil and brands. Do you guys agree with what people say any "decent" brand will be fine as long as it's changed every 3000 miles (or less) Id just run some redline but I dont think I can pocket that now $$ =) Come to think of it.. .redline it is!

I hate to get into oil brand debates. I use Castrol 20-50 in my race engine, Castrol 10-30 in my wifes car, Rotella 15-40 in my Powerstroke Diesel. Nice looking chevelle by the way!

You might check out Lucas oil... Summit now carrys it. I use the 20/50 race oil in my 383, Lucas 85/140 in my Currie 9in rear end, and Lucas Sure Shift Trans Fluid. I have had no issues running their products... I run a K&N filter as well... but because I run an oil cooler (lowers the filter) with a long filter it hits the Milodon Stroker oil pan... so I can only run the HP 2002.

If you dont beat the snot outta it, I'd go with Mobil 1 pure synthetic and a premium filter with a 6000 mile change. M1 is easy to find over the counter and can easily go 6K. Some people at the oil forums go 10-12k per change with a new filter and top off at 5-6k.
10-30 or 15-40 would be fine, M1 is a bit thin so a step heavier that what you'd normally use is ok.
