Hello everyone,
I found a 70 chevelle non-ss with a 454, currie 9" rear end with disc brakes on all 4, roll bar, fuel cell, fairly straight body, interior needs some tlc, wiring needs to be finished and a front windshield needs to be purchad & installed overall a fairly easy project to get her on the road. The guy is thinking about putting it up for sale but hasn't put a price on it. My ? is how much you you offer the guy? I wanted to ask all of you Chevelle gurus first before is spit out some stupid offer and he laughs in my face. I have an Idea of what I'd offer, but really wanted to ask everyone here first.
Thx

Sounds like a drag setup. Is that what you want? Hows the paint?

We need more info. Don't be afraid about making an offer you think he won't like. The he can do is say no.

My car was a race setup when I got it. In fact it also had a warmed over 454 etc about to have a roll cage installed. The body is decent but will need work prior to painting and the wiring was butchered (toggle switches etc), but over all it was and is pretty decent. I got the car for $5200 minus any paint (cheapo rust stopper paint job now).
From what I've seen the 1970 models go for more but this may give you an idea of what to offer or not.? Depending on your goals that 9 inch rear may definitely add some value.
Just food for thought...

She's in primer right now, it looks like the guy was doing the body work, electrical, and engine all at the same time. The frame has been painted and looks clean enough to eat off. There is one rust spot on the lower left fender, and I didn't see any obvious bondo repair. I'm looking at having it a "nice" street rod with occasional strip time, the track is only an hour away, but I have my El camino that would probably be a daily driver.

I paid $6750 for this:

It was painted but I ended up having it painted again. It is back-halfed and the wheel/tires were new. Came with a complete custom interior which I sold since I am wanting it more stock appearing sans backseat. Probably into it for more than 4x what originally paid if I include the blower motor. I bought the car in Oct of 03.
