I am going to replace both quarters and want to put the vinyl top back on. "I know they are rust magnets, but I like the look." I will need to do some rust repair because of the old one. It will be garaged. Anyways, where can I get the studs to either weld on or screw in? I've seen some posts that talked about the screw in studs and wonder where could I get them and what is the proper name to look for?

I bought the screws for my top and window chrome and when my top guy installed the top he just used 1/8" aluminum pop rivets to hold all the clips on.Worked great. And was easy....

Thanks,
My experience with pop rivets is that they will eventually come loose. Is there any more permanent solutions?

If you use poprivets be sure to seal them well with a urethane sealer of equivalent. Strip caulk would also work OK. I seal all the clips for any external trim just to keep moisture from staying between the clip and body, sure seems to hold up much better-rust sure creeps from between the moulding if attention isn't paid to the problem areas. The same goes for windshield and back glass installations-I usually fill the void around the glass completely with urethane before trim instalation to remove any chance of water settling in them areas. You can buy the moulding pins (just sheet metal screws with a head like the original pin) at various place's. There is...? I think Grumpy's Hardware, on the net and Dr. Bolt in Indiana.

The only ones I care for come from Rick's First Generation in Athens GA. I have no idea where Rick's buys thiers, but they are the only ones I'v used that I found to be any good.

You can get these in either the screw in type or the weld on type at any auto body supply house. And I'm not talking the local parts store that also sells paint, I am talking about the shop that only sells auto body related supplies. Just tell the counter person what you need and they will have them on hand for you.
