I can't hardly believe that. Will it really seal a gas tank leak by just coating the tank with this stuff. The seam is rusty where the leak is and drips 1 drop every 30 to 45 seconds. Help me out please, I've never it before and it sure would be cheaper than a new gas tank. Thanks.

I am not sure I would trust this stuff to seal a gas tank, BUT.....
I have used POR 15 and I think it is great. I had some left in the can so I put the lid back on and left it for 2 days.
When I tried to get the lid off it was bonded to the can. The only way it came off was ripping the metal.

I might believe that a coat of POR-15 applied on the inside of the tank would seal it, at least for a while, but I wouldn't bet on it if applied only on the outside. Not saying that the man is BSing you; just that I'be sceptical. Some radiator shops can do a pretty good job of fixing problems like this.

Use POR-15's EPOXY PUTTY they claim it WILL seal gas tanks. It dries underwater. I bought some, gonna use on the '70 this summer to fix some stubborn rust holes.

If you are talking about this stuff: http://www.por15.com/cgi-bin/formrunner5?ConfigFile=scart/page1.cnf&CartNumber=Apr1623_16216&WhichCo=por15&WhichPage=page1&ItemNumb=catp6 , yes it works. I had a tank sealed about 10 years ago & it has not leaked again. I'm a believer in everything that they sell.

I agree with 69454Malibu. I had a 70 with the samne problem. I was lucky enough to find a nice loaner off of a 72 but you might want to check out www.gastanks.com (http://www.gastanks.com)
They have fair numbers and you won't have to worry about it again.

POR 15 paint will not seal your gas tank and it isn't supposed to. POR's 2 part epoxy putty, however, will do the job.
