I emailed the seller and asked...... "can you tell me what the "ss package" is ?

His response.
"THe car is a malibu with an optional ss package-it came with the ss hood, bucket seats, slide shifter. It was purchased with the package on the car. I was told from a chevy car dealer that was rare. Thanks Chris"

Too funny

It doesn't suprise me at all that some one posting on Ebay might be misinformed about SS stuff. Heck there are folks here still giving out incorrect info. :clonk: Normally though some one else will speak up and correct them.

Starting in 69 the SS was just an option package. In 68 and before the SS was a separate model. – but I don’t think that car was ever an SS.

Even more "rare" is the race built TH350 controlled by a powerglide horseshor/cheesecutter shifter ...

If it goes reasonable enough (and if the body looks as good in person), that can be a nice car - needs TLC and some attention to detail.

bore 30,000

That is officially the biggest piston bore I've ever heard of in a sbc.

So what's the empty hole on the right side of the guages? Is that the cig lighter?

Yes that would be where the cigarette lighter should be. For 69 the ignition moved to the column, which I wish it hadn't. I prefer on the dash like yours Kurt, has more of a classic car feel to me.

I wonder how hard it would be to graft in another hole for a 68 style ignition?

It probably wouldn't be all that hard, but then I would also have to get a 68 column. Alot of work and money for something so minor.

Besides, if I did that and put pictures of the car up here, I would get endless comments by the chevelle police that it isn't correct.

We'll just tell them it's an early production '69 from before they went to the column ignition ;)

And I could pay a few people to say they are the original owners of their 69 chevelles and they had the ignition on the dash right from the start.

I think I'll start my own business proofreading ebay ads for people. What do you guys think, 35 cents per word?

You'd have to charge for misspelled words also, even though they aren't words at all. Otherwise you wouldn't make any money !

Problem is, why would they pay you to proofread their ad when they don't think there's any misspelled words in the first place ?
How would you convince them ?
