I need a little help on color coding. I just purchased a 70SS 396 from a budy that I knew 10 years ago that was working on it and it needs to be restored to the original color scheme. I have broken down the codes and it was red in color(Exterior) and Ivory interior.

Cowl tag reads

TR 791 75 75

OK so here is my question. This car has a complete black interior now. The exterior will have white stripes? and what color will the headliner, dash, carpet and condole be? also the package shelf? Thanks. Also any pictures in this combo would be most appreciated.

Ken first of all you want to go from black interior to the ivory right? The upper portion of the dash where the gauges and the radio are is black and painted a 0 degree gloss. The lower portion of the dash like the glove box and the ash tray is black also with a 30 degree gloss. The dash pad is black. The kick panels are also black. With the ivory interior the pillars, carpet and the console were black. The headliner is ivory and should be the perforated pattern. The package shelf is black in a 0 degree gloss. My part numbers for the differnt glosses are for PPG 30 degree 9000, 0 degree 9317. DuPont are 30 degree 99L, 0 degree 4428L. Hope this will give you a start and good luck with your project...Eric

My '70 has an ivory interior and came with a black headliner...is either color headliner correct?

My 72 has white interior with black headliner, black package shelf as well.

70L34, looking though several chevelle books and pictures I have taking over the years of "original" or unrestored chevelles, the 70 chevelle with the ivory interior had a ivory headliner. Just wondering if over the years someone had replaced the ivory headliner for a black one in your car? Not saying you are wrong or I am right, but everything points to the ivory interior had a ivory headliner. Tom looking tho the same reference manuals your 72 chevelle with the white interior came with the black headliner and black rear shelf, so your car is correct.
