I recently bought new GM hood hinges, and boy are these things tight! I had to pry them open to get them to work, and soaked them in WD40, but there still tight. Is there some special grease i can use to lube them up, or do I just have to wait till I raise the hood a few thousand times?

I've bought new ones in the past and they were tight but not that tight. Try white lithum greese.

John,
Just put a set on my 71. Same thing ... I squirted a good dose of 5w30 Mobile 1 on all the pivots and after about 5 open and close cycles, they seem to be pretty good.
By the way, make sure you got the correct springs, if you got new ones. The ones for the cowl hood are stronger than the ones for the plain hood.
