Hey guys, I have an NOS, still in the an unopened tin rotor. It is a D426R (GM #1852722).

I have been told this is the white one and is correct for late 1969-1974 points style distributors, but I am not sure if this is accurate. Could one of you please give me a run down on "correct" rotors and what this rotor is "correct" for.

I know it'll fit any points style distributor, but I would like to know what it's original application would have been for. When was the switch?

Thanks!

Not sure when it first came out but it did become a replacement for the older style D426 rotor. The D426R rotor also had to be used with the replacement D308R cap if going into an older distributor. Had something to do with the clearance between the rotor tang and distributor contacts.

Apparently the GM number on the box is later than 72 at least. I have a GM Parts & Accessories catalog up to 1972 and it shows for 2.382 group, part #1971247 as a replacement rotor for all V8s. Part numbers get superseded all the time so this must have been changed/made after 1972.
