Has anyone else had a issue with pulling the cam on a big block? I have it almost all the way out and it is hitting the sheet metal between the grill and the bumper. Should I just cut a notch out to get the cam out, I only need a inch and 1/2. Thanks for your input.

I wouldn't be chopping up the car to get the cam out unless it's a real junker. R&R of the grill stuff is part of the job, always has been.

Not a junker, the part I would have to chop up is under the grill and could not seen from the exterior or when the raditor is put back in. It looks as a notch is already there but about a inch away from where I need it to remove the CAM. Thanks for the advice and I will check to see what it will take to remove the pc that will let me remove the CAM. I feel like I'm peeling a onion, everything I touch I have to remove 5 more things. I may get to drive it yet this summer.

I had this same problem about two months ago,had to remove the grill and remove drivers side motor mount bolt and then jacked up engine and slid a 2x4 between mount and frame stand. That gave me just enough room to get the cam out and it cleared the filler panel. This was on my 66 with a 454 BB.

IMHO, thats the way to go.. I wouldn't cut anything, weather you will see it or not..
