in aprevious post we discussed oiling th body to prevent rus by squirting oil into the body panels / doors once /year..

im wondering if theres anything better that can be done..
wht about squirting POR 15 into those areas instead of oil????

I'd clean the area as well as you can and spray or pour Hammerite in the areas. It's similar to Por-15, but not as hard. The advantage is, it seems to adhere better to painted surfaces than Por-15 would.

As for pouring oil....

If you ever wanted to paint it, I think it'd be a real nightmare!!!

The Hammerite service department told me that Hammerite contains lots of silicons and cannot be painted either.

Rich, The shop that painted my car used some Ziebart rustproofing to coat the insides of my body panels. It was in liquid form and they poured it inside each piece and swirled them around to coat everything. It cleans up easy and I think it is available in spray bomb form or you could put some in a spray bottle. My panels were off the car when they coated them.
It leaves the inside of the panels sticky like syrup. Might be a good fix that would last.

we still need to meet..
weather is cooling off so this fall for sure..

anyway i wanted to ziebart my car wheni got it but was advised agsinst it tho i never really heard WHY...

now the local ziebart shop is closed (after 20 years) and i believe that the only one with in range is in holley hill north of you...

i do need to do something to bring this rust bubbling into check down the road but im still looking / listening for ideas /solutions

Rich, That is the shop where this guy bought it I believe.
As far as a get together I am thinking Super Chevy in Gainesville in October, not sure of the exact date. I can check Mike Kelley's Cruise News tonight.
If all goes right I will be down in Melbourne on Friday Sept. 7 for Rick Hagan's cruise in at The Common's Plaza. I will let you know as it gets closer.
