I have a video from my digital camera and I want to freeze a frame and save it as a picture.
How do I go about this or can I even do it?

The easiest way is to play the movie on your PC, and stop it where you want the picture. Hit the "Print screen" key, open MS Paint and paste it. You'll have to crop around the edges as the pasted image will be of everything you had on the screen at that moment, but this is the quick and dirty way.

Thanks for the reply.
I think I'm missing something though. I don't see a "print screen" key
I'm using windows mwdia player to view the movie.

Thanks,I'm having a hard time getting the selected area to show as is in the pic. This is the best I can do for now.

Why does the pic stay still?

Print screen won't work in this case. The way videos are played is by overlaying the image on a black box on the screen. Kinda like blue screen effects in movies.

Print screen doesn't "see" the image being overlayed. You need a video program that lets you save frames directly from the video file.

Is usually use virtualdub (http://www.virtualdub.org/) for something like that.

You can use Windows Movie Maker. Import your movie into WMM. Play the movie to the frame you want. In the lower right corner of the viewer is an icon to "take picture".
