i am wondering how and where to get a certain fender emblem that i cant seem to find. i have looked at a few but none like mine. my emblem has 396 with SS below it and the marker light. i have looked at new ones that i have ordered from various places and none were correct as far as like mine. most that i saw had either SS or 396 on one side and the marker light on the other side. i cant seem to find one with 396 with SS below it??
what do i have on my fenders??

Check with Dick Brandt at www.true-connections.com (http://www.true-connections.com/). He might be able to scare some up for you. They are not being repopped as they were only used til Nov 67 (according to assy manual). My Car is a Sep 67 SS396 and had the above side markers. THe SS427s are for a big car (Impala)

yes they are just like that only without the black its all silver on mine, maybe the black just wore off of mine? but yeah, so are those not correct for a 68, well i guess anyone could have put them on my car in the past 37 years

They are correct for an early production 68 Chevelle if they are 396 emblems. The 427 emblems aren't right for a Chevelle. And Jeff, I believe some plants ran out of these emblems before November. My 3rd week Oct KAN car didn't have them. ;)

Wouldn't surprise me they ran out, part of the reason for the change is the quick fade of the early emblem. Factor in some being replaced under warranty (my guess), supply would have been limited. My originals are faded pretty bad, but I still have them. I put the cast 396 side markers on my car. 8 years and they still look good The foils are sitting in a box full of some other SS stuff for when I get around to re-chroming the bezels I have. I may also try to get an artist to touch up the originals, since my hand isn't steady enough and my paint skills are minimal.

there is a set of nos ones on ebay #4563180706 bet they go for big bucks!!
