hey guys and gals,

a guy i know is having some steering problems with his ford pickup.

its a 79 4wheel drive pickup. he says the steering is real hard to turn in both directions, even when the wheels are off the ground.

here is the kicker.... it has new powersteering pump/reservoir, new lines, and all new front suspension, and still is hard. would a bad p/s box be the culprit? and what would one run about? would a box from an 80's or newer 4wd ford work? i will do some more searching, but you guys were my first resort.

lighten up frances :D

when priming a ford ps pump you need to have the engine off

turn the wheel lock to lock 10 times

refill the reservoir

do it again

check to see if res dropped fluid level

if so do it again

until you don't need to add fluid

then start it up and do it again and again till it doesn't take any more fluid

we are thinking it just needs to be bled, because he put a new pump on it, but never beld the system, and when he turns the wheel he can see bubbles in the fluid. so if its all it will take, then great, i make my few bucks off it then im done. but if it needs a new box, then looks like ill be making more dough off this one.

btw, do you need a long bed, bed liner Tom? i got one on my truck, and dont want it, its in good shape. u can have it if want, just come pick it up.

also make sure the front tires are off the ground with that ford
it makes the whole job much easier

well i work 11-7 saturday, and 4-9 tomorrow and friday. im picking up my 305 tomorrow. maybe friday before work?
