: stuff to remove for body bushing install?

I am getting ready to install my body bushings and am wondering if I need to remove my front fenders.

The car is a daily driver, so it is completely "assembled". I read in a previous post that all that need to be undone/removed is the brake lines, engine ground, steering linkage, and the body/radiator support bushing bolts.

Is this correct? what else do I need to unhook? fuel line at tank? any wiring? what about stuff in the interior?

also, i am trying to hit the bolts with liquid wrench before I try to loosen them. I have already drilled a couple holes in the floor (as was suggested in another post) to get the oil to the captured nut. Is there any easy way to locate where the holes need to go or any way to get to any of the nuts without drilling?

I want to make this as quick and easy as possible. Any tips would be appreciated.

thanks,

cperrell:
No need to remove anything during a body bushing install.
I just completed this on the '72 Convertible.
All I did was:
1. Soak all bolting where possible.
2. Attempt to break free all bolts.
3. Only fully loosen one side at a time.
4. Use a 4x4 piecse of wood to span the floor board reinforcement cross members and jack up one side at a time.
5. You can easily jack it up enough that the bushing will fall out.
6. Don't drill any holes in floorboard unless you need too (less to repair later)

Hope this helps. It's pretty easy. I also used Neverseize on all bolting and polygraphite body bushings to eleminate unwanted squeeks.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.

So it is better to put the 4x4 on the inside of the frame rail? The last post i read recomended putting it on the outside.

Anyone see any problems doing it one way vs the other?

Also, how do you get the penitrant into the nut from the bottom? will spraying something like wd40 on the top of the bushing reach the nut?

I am parinoid about breaking loose the caged nut.

Thanks,
