Hi Everyone,
Tonight my Dad said that I have to pull out all of the sparkplugs on the freshly rebuilt 350, and crank the engine over a few revolutiuons to blow out the oil in the cylinders.

The only oil that I put in the cylinders was to coat the cylinder walls & coated the piston heads(submerged) in engine oil before dropping them into the cylinders.

Do I have to pull out all the sparkplugs, and crank the engine over a few revolutions to "blow out" the access oil? I don't think I need to do this, but my Dad insists that I do, I told him I did not dump oil into the cylinders, but he thinks I should, the only thing that will happen is probably mess up the new cam. :(
TIA,
David

I've never pulled the spark plugs, and I doubt that you need to. Any oil in the cylinders, will be burnt up in a matter of seconds, as soon as the engine fires. Tell your Dad not to worry about it, and that little amount of oil is not going to hurt the spark plugs. If it did, I would have had to pull a lot of spark plugs over the years. Running the Carb rich or having the wrong timing will be a much bigger problem than just a few drops of oil, for sure.

I would also stay away from cranking the motor over slowly before the cam is broken in. You want it to fire up immediately and keep it over 2000rpm.

Thanks Guys. :)
Now I need to fix the starter adjustment, and I can fire the engine. :)
The starter teeth is stuck into the flywheel teeth at the moment. :(

I need to shim/adjust it, what is the best way about going to adjust the brand new starter?
The bolts are the long ones, and are offset. The teeth on the starter (fully extended) is an 1/8th of an inch or so into the flywheel teeth.
TIA,
David
