I have an original 6 cyl chevelle which I am converting to a big block car. I noticed that the top rail of the core support or "clip" is slightly different than others I have seen (3 bolts across the rail as opposed to 4 bolts and a smaller opening for air flow to radiator. Should I invest in a new radiator support or "clip" and if so, where can I order one. Is this the proper terminology for the piece that the front end bolts to (headlights, radiator, fan shroud) or is it called a "clip" ?
Thanx

The correct terminology is core support or radiator support.
Clip(front clip) refers to the entire front bolted-on sheet metal assembly...hood, fenders, core support, grille, any valances and bumper.

You can make your own BIG BLOCK core support. What I did was take a big block support or even small block with air, locate excatly where the bolts are on the support. Take those measurements then place them on the 3 bolt support. Drilled 4 new holes. On the backside of holes welded small nuts to mimic the original.
For the bigger opening you can see where the bigger hole would be cut at. Look at the front of the support you can see a factory stamped lip. Cut on that lip now you have a bigger hole in the support.
Althou not 100% origianl I can see you arnt building a original car, me either so I frankly dont care...Eric
