Depends on what you start with....... TH350, TH400, manual......all require different things.

[QUOTE=FO_FDYFO]what all is involved.
crossmember possition?

On my 72 elky, I moved the crossmember (stock turbo 350) aft a bit. Holes were already in the frame (for turbo 400 I believe)

drive shaft length and yoke spline march up?

Had to be shortened - I measured length of original 350 & subtracted it from length of 700 - believe it was 2"-3" shorter. Spline from 350 drive shaft worked in 700.

kick down?

Uses TV cable - extremely critical adjustment. See link below.

lock up convertor feature?

Easily done, go to http://links.chevelles.net visit the workshop area and then the tranny area - lots of info on how to rewire & connect. Search this forum for a list of parts you need - Onabudget (user name) listed everything you'll need.

overdrive feature?

Works fine - its just another gear.

shifting linkage changes - Column shifter from my 350 worked fine. The shift arm is in the same position on both trannys. Gear indicator on column is slightly off, but not so far as to be a problem.

Also speedo gear output is in same location.
